Exams

  • Single award GCSE Leisure and Tourism
  • 'A' Level Travel and Tourism

(Single Award) GCSE Leisure and Tourism is a relatively new subject that has been developed as a result of changes in the world of work. Together, leisure and tourism make up one of the world’s fastest growing industries. Due to its size there are a vast number of jobs within this industry such as air cabin crew, travel consultants, tour guides, conference organisers, hotel managers and so on… This means the subject is closely linked to employment. As well as this our city's involvement over 2012/2013 will be highlighted by events such as the olympics, yacht race and city of culture. We hope our students will have employment in this job sector.

Both courses are largely assessed by portfolio covering topics such as:

  • Investigating leisure and tourism
  • Marketing
  • Customer service

Students will have the opportunity to be involved in customer service role playing, investigating a number of local tourism based industries, data collection, interview techniques, time management and marketing strategies.
