There are a number of opportunities for pupils to get involved in cross-community projects.
The Shared Education Programme with St. Mary’s College has been running for the last three years. A group of pupils have been timetabled together for their Learning for Life and Work classes and take turns at visiting the other school each week, when this is not possible video conferencing is used. The groups have also had the opportunity to go on trips to London and Dublin.
The Verbal Arts Centre facilitates the ‘See Me See You’ Programme. Year Nine pupils work with St. Peter’s and St. Cecilia’s on this four-day project. Pupils are given the opportunity to visit the partner school and the Verbal Arts Centre where they write a newsletter together.
Year 10 pupils take part in the Common Purpose Leadership programme with pupils from across the City. During the three-day event pupils take part in team building and problem solving exercises. Visits include the Courthouse, Council Buildings and the Fire Service.
